In this Go Prince William County, Va Issue…

News around the county was pretty slow over the weekend. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Phil saw his shadow yesterday morning. If you believe Phil has prediction powers then we are in for six more weeks of winter. Today it is going to be a high of 58 degrees though, his prediction is already looking to be a little bit off. Or not 😁??

Quick Bites

  • Extreme Weather Forces Closure of Popular Pier

The fishing pier at Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge has been closed due to structural damage from ice and winter weather. The park remains open, but repairs are necessary to make the pier safe again. Officials have not provided a reopening date, and the closure may affect upcoming night fishing programs. Visitors can check the park’s website for updates. (Patch)

  • Manassas National Battlefield Park’s Deer Reduction Effort Supports Forest and Community

Manassas National Battlefield Park is managing its white-tailed deer population to protect forest regeneration and preserve historic landscapes. With deer numbers exceeding sustainable levels, the National Park Service is conducting nighttime reduction efforts led by trained professionals. The venison is donated to local food banks, and chronic wasting disease monitoring continues. Similar programs are in place at other national parks in the region. (NPS)

  • Court Ruling Keeps Data Center Rezoning Challenge Alive

A lawsuit challenging the Prince William Digital Gateway rezoning will move forward after a judge ruled that more evidence is needed on whether the county properly notified the public. Gainesville residents and the Oak Valley Homeowners’ Association argue that the county failed to meet legal requirements before approving the rezoning of 1,700 acres for data centers. Circuit Court Judge Kimberly A. Irving scheduled a March 6 hearing to review whether legal notices were published correctly and if rezoning materials were available on time. If successful, the lawsuit could overturn the decision, requiring the new Board of Supervisors to reconsider the vote. A separate lawsuit against the rezoning is also under appeal. (PW Times)
