In this Go Prince William County, Va Issue…

It finally feels cold, though it looks like it is going to be a bit of a blip. Events are slowing down a bit, but that’ll be short lived. Holidays are right around the corner, where did the year go?

Quick Bites

  • Prince William Launches Advanced Care Units to Treat Trauma Patients Before Hospital Arrival

Prince William County Fire and Rescue is launching the Advanced Care Field Operations Program to allow EMS supervisors to administer whole blood at emergency scenes, improving survival during the first hour after severe injury. Developed with NVERS and Inova Blood Donor Services, the program starts with an eastern pilot and expands to three 24/7 units across the county by February 2026. NVERS provides equipment, Inova supplies and rotates blood biweekly, and crews undergo quarterly recertification. Units will also carry ultrasound for rapid assessments. A community blood drive to support the effort is set for Nov. 22, 2025, 8 a.m.–1 p.m., at O.W.L. Fire Station 2 in Woodbridge; appointments are available online. (PWC)

  • Prince William Fire & Rescue Launches Holiday Toys for Tots Collection Through Dec. 24

Prince William County Fire and Rescue is collecting new, unwrapped toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program through December 24, 2025. Donations are accepted at all fire stations in Prince William County, Manassas Park, and Manassas, as well as the Public Safety Training Center in Nokesville and the McCoart Government Center lobby in Woodbridge. Clothing and used items are not accepted. Collected toys will be processed at the Toys for Tots site and distributed to pre-authorized community organizations. (PWC)

  • La Niña, Siberian Snow Point to Colder, Snowier Winter for Northern Virginia

NBC4’s Doug Kammerer projects 13–20 inches of snow for the DC metro and Fredericksburg, 18–30 inches for Warrenton and Leesburg, 26–40 inches for Luray and Winchester, and 90–130 inches in mountain areas to the west. The outlook leans on the current La Niña pattern—comparable past years averaged 22.8 inches—and robust October snow cover in Siberia, which can hint at colder Mid-Atlantic winters. Forecasters also see an elevated chance of holiday snowfall and even a possible white Christmas. (NoVa Mag)
