Quick Bites

  • Wonder Lands at Smoketown Station Thursday

Wonder opens Thursday, Sept. 17, at Smoketown Station, 13257 Worth Ave. in Woodbridge, with a 10:30 a.m. ribbon cutting. The idea is more than 20 restaurant concepts in a single order β€” dine-in, pickup or delivery β€” including chef-driven menus from Bobby Flay, Marcus Samuelsson and Michael Symon, plus Tejas Barbecue and Magnolia Bakery. The first 100 orders of $10 or more get a Wonder swag bag, and a round-up option at checkout benefits the Capital Area Food Bank. (Potomac Local News)

  • Broad Run Trail Reconnected After 8-Year Gap

The Broad Run Trail is connected again. A new 55-foot bridge over Rocky Branch in Broad Run Linear Park opened with a ribbon cutting on Sept. 10, replacing the one that washed out in July 2018. The roughly $858,000 span sits on a deep foundation built to stand up to future flooding, and it links neighborhoods including Kingsbrooke and Dunbarton. Brentsville District Supervisor Tom Gordy said the trail "gets us out away from a lot of the noise into a quiet place to experience these beautiful creeks, the birds, the animals, the flora." (PWC)
