Quick Bites

  • I-66 EMP Funds $5,000 Thanksgiving Feast for Veterans at Willing Warriors’ Retreat

Willing Warriors hosted a Thanksgiving dinner at the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run in Haymarket, offering veterans and their families a restorative evening of fellowship. I-66 Express Mobility Partners sponsored the event with a $5,000 contribution, continuing a longstanding partnership with the nonprofit. Willing Warriors operates a 37-acre retreat with ADA-accessible homes that provide no-cost, five-night respite stays for recovering service members and their families, while I-66 EMP manages the 66 Express Outside the Beltway as part of the region’s Transform 66 project. • Virginia Appeals Court Halts PW Digital Gateway Construction Pending Appeal

The Virginia Court of Appeals has prohibited any land disturbance or construction on the PW Digital Gateway while a citizen-led lawsuit proceeds, partially reversing an earlier stay that had allowed work to continue. The appeal of an August circuit court ruling—finding Prince William County failed to properly advertise the decisive public hearing—has been expedited, with oral arguments set for the week of Feb. 23, 2026. Developers Compass Datacenters and QTS, along with the county, are appealing the lower court decision, while community plaintiffs praised the halt. The proposed project near Gainesville would cover 2,100+ acres with more than 22 million square feet across 37 data centers. (WTOP)

  • Twelve Easy Ways to “Green” the Holidays in Prince William County

Prince William County’s Solid Waste Management division shared 12 practical tips to reduce holiday waste—from using recyclable or reusable gift wrap and real dishware to planning meals, freezing leftovers, shopping local, switching to LED lights, and recycling greenery. Holiday tree recycling is available via curbside pickup for the first two full weeks of January, at the county landfill and compost facility in Manassas, and at NOVEC in Gainesville through Jan. 12, 2026. Facility hours include holiday closures and new operating times beginning Jan. 3, 2026. The county notes EPA-cited data showing holiday waste can surge by 25%, and local residents already generate more daily trash than the national average. (PWC)
