• Bridge Repairs to Bring April Lane Closures on Route 28

  Bridge repair work on Route 28 at the border of Fairfax and Prince William counties will lead to right-lane closures in both directions throughout April. Southbound lanes will be closed from March 31–April 3 and April 7–10 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., while northbound lanes will be closed April 14–17 and April 21–24 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Drivers are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes. • First Chronic Wasting Disease Case Found in Deer at Virginia’s Manassas Battlefield

  Manassas National Battlefield Park in Virginia has reported its first case of chronic wasting disease in a white-tailed deer, discovered during a routine population management program. This follows positive cases in three nearby parks earlier in 2024. The National Park Service is continuing CWD monitoring efforts and will destroy contaminated venison per health guidelines. CWD is a fatal, contagious neurological disease affecting deer and related species. (CIDRAP)

• Spring 2025 Cleanup Events Announced Across Prince William County

  Prince William County’s Spring 2025 Dumpster Days return with a full schedule of community cleanups and free waste disposal events. Running from April to June, these events aim to reduce litter and beautify neighborhoods, with support from Keep Prince William Beautiful. While many household items are accepted, hazardous materials and electronics must be taken to the County Landfill. (PWC)
