  • VDOT Lifts Lane Closures to Ease Memorial Day Traffic Across Virginia

    VDOT will suspend many lane closures on Virginia highways from May 23 to May 27 for Memorial Day weekend. While most work zones will pause, some permanent construction areas will remain. Drivers can use VDOT’s 511 app and website for traffic updates and suggested routes. Express lane and alternate route details are provided for Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads.     Prince William County has launched PWC 311, a centralized customer service platform that enables residents to request services, report issues, and access government resources via phone, app, web portal, or a multilingual AI chatbot. Supporting over 40 service types and offering real-time tracking, the platform enhances efficiency, transparency, and user convenience in government interactions. (PWC)

  • Battlefield High Student Wins $2,500 National Merit Scholarship

    Daniel J. Choe, a student at Battlefield High School in Gainesville, was awarded a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship. He is one of 63 Virginia students and 2,500 nationwide chosen for the prestigious academic honor, which recognizes top-performing high school seniors. Choe plans to study computer science. In total, the National Merit Scholarship Program will award over $26 million to more than 6,870 students this year. (Patch)
