Quick Bites

  • New Data Centers in Manassas Expected to Generate Millions in Taxes

Manassas is experiencing significant data center growth, with one facility completed and three others in development. These projects, including major investments from Amazon Web Services, are expected to bring millions in annual tax revenue to the city. Officials emphasized that no incentives were used to attract the developments, ensuring direct financial benefits for the community. The city also enforces strict architectural and zoning standards for data centers. Alongside these projects, Manassas continues to see economic growth in other sectors, including retail and mixed-use developments. (Patch)

  • New Housing Developments Prompt School Redistricting Proposal in Brentsville

Prince William County school officials are reviewing a redistricting proposal to address overcrowding at The Nokesville School. The plan would reassign students from three new housing developments to Cedar Point and T. Clay Wood elementary schools and Marsteller Middle School. The changes, aimed at balancing enrollment, would take effect in the 2025-26 school year. The school board will vote on the proposal in early February. (Inside NoVa)

  • Prince William County and NVCT Partner to Protect Doves Landing Park

Prince William County and the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust have placed Doves Landing Regional Park under a conservation easement to protect it from development while allowing passive recreation and environmental education. The 308-acre park, which includes forested land and wetland habitats along the Occoquan River, will be managed by NVCT to ensure its long-term preservation. Community support played a key role in securing this conservation effort, and residents can stay engaged through upcoming project meetings. (Prince William Living)
