  • Christmas Tree Recycling Options Available Across Prince William County

    Prince William County offers multiple options for recycling live Christmas trees after the holidays. Residents with curbside yard waste collection can leave trees out during the first two weeks of January, while others can drop them off at the landfill, compost facility, or Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative's Gainesville site until Jan. 12. Proper preparation, such as removing decorations and wires, is required for all recycling methods. (Patch)

  • Dumfries to Welcome Affordable Senior Housing Community by 2026

    A $41 million affordable housing project, The Harbor at Quantico Creek, will bring 125 units for residents aged 62 and older to Dumfries, VA. Developed by Community Housing Initiative, Inc. and Pillar Church of Dumfries, the community will offer amenities such as a fitness center, library, and billiards lounge. The project will break ground in December 2024 and is slated for completion in summer 2026, with move-ins starting that August. It aims to support older adults earning 30–80% of the area median income. (Patch)

  • Prince William County Faces Delays for New Elementary School

    The opening of a new $60 million elementary school in Woodbridge has been delayed until the 2026-27 school year due to construction and approval challenges, including a prolonged civil review process, sanitary line re-routing, and planned infrastructure updates at Fred Lynn Middle School. The school, located on Prince William Parkway, will feature environmentally sustainable designs and a capacity for 775 students. (InsideNoVa)
