In this Go Prince William County, Va Issue…

More thunderstorms on the way over the weekend. Becoming quite the regular thing this summer!

PWC is doing pretty well it seems, impressive ranking by Kiplinger and more development queuing up off Minnieville. Though we are loosing a brewpub with this being the last weekend for Brew Republic Bierwerks.

Can’t forget to give a quick mention to Occoquan’s recent visit from Fox5 with their 5 Must Stops

Quick Bites

  • Kiplinger Ranks Prince William County 7th in Cost-Adjusted U.S. Wealth Ranking

Prince William County has been named the seventh “real richest” county in the U.S. based on a cost-of-living-adjusted median household income of $121,458. The county ranks highly thanks to strong earnings and relatively controlled costs, particularly in categories like housing. While home prices hover near the national average and commute times are long, residents benefit from proximity to D.C., a well-educated workforce, and strong purchasing power when compared to wealthier but more expensive regions. This ranking places Prince William alongside other affluent areas like Loudoun and Stafford counties. (Kiplinger)

  • Quartz District to Transform Prince William Parkway, Add 1,000 Homes and Whole Foods

Prince William County is moving forward with the Quartz District, a 145-acre development near the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Minnieville Road. The project will bring 1,000 townhomes, a Whole Foods Market, and green space—but first requires a $70 million interchange to reduce major traffic congestion. The new road design will separate parkway traffic from Minnieville Road and include a temporary detour route opening in 2026. Residents raised concerns about traffic and affordable housing provisions, with 90 homes planned at reduced prices. The district also aims to bring fine dining and upscale retail, with businesses set to open in 2028. (PW Times)

  • Financial Chaos Prompts State Takeover of Prince William Education Association

The Virginia Education Association has imposed emergency trusteeship over the Prince William Education Association due to alleged financial mismanagement. The move follows a yearlong investigation that revealed deep deficits, excessive credit card spending, and altered records. A VEA-appointed trustee will take charge of PWEA operations pending a hearing in Prince William County. Legal inquiries have intensified, but both unions have remained publicly silent. The controversy emerges months after a major collective bargaining victory for Prince William teachers, raising fresh concerns about union stability ahead of the fall semester. (Potomac Local)
